An oil atomising burner with an electric igniter which has an ignition element arranged in the region in front of the outlet opening of a burner nozzle is characterised in that the ignition element is an electrical heating conductor. A considerably smaller and less powerful transformer can then be used than in the case of high-voltage ignition.
