A pot is proposed, primarily for heating milk, which has an electrical heating device in the base and/or wall region, which heating device has a switch device. The latter has a temperature regulator and a temperature limiting switch which shorts out said temperature regulator, is set to a fixed operating temperature and, on switching on and reaching the predetermined, fixedly set temperature, especially the pasteurisation temperature, trips automatically and switches off the heating. The temperature limiting switch shorts out the temperature regulator during switching on. Furthermore, a switched-on indicator light (red) and a ready indicator light (green) are provided. A catchment device for solid particles, which is permeable to fluids, is seated on the pot and/or cover in the pouring- out region. The pot enables relatively gentle and uniform heating and heating up of the fluid, primarily milk, without any risk of burning and without heating-up taking a long time.
