Use of methacrylic acid esters of the formula see diagramm : EP0096196,P12,F1 wherein R denotes a monovalent organic radical optionally contains 1-2 ether and/or ester groups, is free from olefinic double bonds, and contains 10-24 C atoms and a) at least one aromatic radical or b) at least one cycloaliphatic radical, at least 8 C atoms representing ring C atoms in the case of the cycloaliphatic radical, as reactive diluents for oxidatively crosslinkable alkyd resins.
