<p>A pressurized, rigid, lighter-than-air ship incorporating a detachable, interchangeable gondola system, and a mooring system whereby the airship is moored for loading to a circular, ground track by lines dropped from the airship which automatically adjust to hold the gondola steady over a loading area. A double-envelope hull with longitudinal girders defining air flow air spaces for the airship allows for ambient air flow around the inner envelope or for hot air from the engine to change the helium lift within the airship, or melt snow or sleet on the hull. The airship is also designed to allow speed control for landing, and steering through control of the air flow within the ship, with a bow thruster nose control system and with the main air thrust being provided by a venturi-type shrouded, stern propeller unit with deflector vanes for supplemental steering. In the airship power may be transmitted to the forward and rear engines by means of hydraulic lines or other types of mechanisms from the gondola in which for example a diesel engine can be located.</p> |
