PURPOSE:To manufacture efficiently a deformed worm shaft having excellent tooth surface accuracy by rolling in manufacturing a worm shaft provided with screws of different spiral direction by providing roll dies for screw forming on both sides of a material and rotating while applying pressure. CONSTITUTION:Roll dies D, D' and D, D' for forming screws of different spiral direction on both sides of a steel bar C are fixed to rotation shafts S, S' so that circumferential position b' of the end face of the screw forming edge becomes 1mm. or less. Under this condition, the two roll dies are rotated simultaneously in the same direction V of rotation, and pressed strongly against the material C by pistons 0, 0'. Thus, a deformed worm shaft can be manufactured simply by rolling without depending on cutting work that requires much labor. |
