摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled product that is like a mat and very high in Young's modulus, breaking strength and moldability by a method wherein a specific concentration of solution of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is cooled gradually and single crystal block is deposited to perform solvent removing treatment to said single crystal element. CONSTITUTION:Ultra-high molecular weight poly ethylene with a viscosity average molecular weight 1,000,000 or more is heated and melted in a solvent (such xylene, etc.) to make a solution with a concentration/wt% or less. Then, said solution is left under temperature conditions that are lower then the above- mentioned melting and heating temperature and at which gel is not produced but crystal is produced and the above-mentioned polyethylene single crystal block is deposited. Further, solution removing treatment is made by evaporation etc. from the suspension deposited by said single crystal block to obtain the desired mat-like product. Furthermore, the said product is extruded at 70-135 deg.C, stretched 4-5 times in size so that a draw ratio 100-250 can be obtained at 90-135 deg.C to obtain a product having a Young's modulus 110 giga Pascals or more, a breaking strength 3,5 giga Pascals or more.
