PURPOSE:To avoid influences of temperature change and deterioration with age, by omitting an AGC circuit by determining a reference value for detecting the state of knocking from the engine speed and the engine load. CONSTITUTION:At a step 101, it is judged whether or not the temperature of engine cooling water is raised to a prescribed value and the state possibly causing knocking is produced. At a step 102, the count value nx of knocking signals is loaded. At a step 104, a value nREF enclosed previously in an ROM is retrieved from the engine speed and load L. At a step 105, an ignition timing delaying angle thetaKN is calculated by use of nx and NREF. Further, at a step 106, the ignition timing is clamped at a maximum delay angle beta when thetaKN becomes greater than beta. Since, with such an arrangement, an automatic gain controlling circuit (AGC ciruit) is omitted, it is enabled to avoid influences of temperature change and deterioration with age. |
