PURPOSE:To correct the amount of a tilt in a wire electrode and make the electric discharge machining excellent in accuracy achievable, by operating the displacement of a wire electrode on the basis of a shading action of the detected wire electrode, while installing an operation display unit indicating the perpendicularity of the wire electrode. CONSTITUTION:Luminous devices 25a and 25b are installed at one side facing a wire electrode 12 in between and in opposition to this, light receiving devices 26a and 26b are installed as well. The displacement of the electrode 12 is made up in a form so as to cause each light receiving surface form of these light receiving devices 26a and 26b to be increased or decreased toward one side and thereby the displacement of the electrode 12 is detected by variations in the quantity of light commensurate to this displacement. A detecting signal for the amount of wire electrode displacement is outputted from both light receiving devices 26a and 26b at top and bottom. This detecting signal is operated and processed by an operation part 28, thus the presence of the amount of a tilt in the electrode 12 or the absolute value of the tilt amount is found and this result is displayed by a display part 30. |
