PURPOSE:To improve the constitution of a control code that is added to the final byte of a compressed code in an arithmetic coding system for a date compression system where the data on the character codes, the image date, etc., are turned into the arithmetic codes. CONSTITUTION:A data compression system where the data of plural bytes are turned into an arithmetic codes is provided with an arithmetic coding means which turns the original data 1 to be inputted into an arithmetic code, a means which counts the number of bytes of the data 1, and a means adding a termination code 3 showing the termination of the compression data. The code 3 added to the compressed data consists of a code showing the end of the date 2, the number of bytes of the data 1 or 8 control code including the remainder number obtained by dividing the number of bytes of the data 1 by an integer. |
