PURPOSE:To produce the title compsn. by compounding a thermoplastic resin with a conductive inorg. filler and an alkylene oxide adduct of a saponified ethylene-vinyl satd. carboxylate copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is obtd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin with 1-100 pts.wt. conductive inorg. filler (e.g. carbon black or metal powder) and 1-40 pts.wt. alkylene oxide adduct of a saponified ethylene- vinyl satd. carboxylate copolymer (e.g. an ethylene oxide adduct of a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer). Formerly, a large amt. of the filler had to be compounded to give the resin a desired electrical conductivity, resulting in the problems of a large local variability in electrical conductivity and loss in flexibility and strengths due to a poor dispersion of the filler. The title compsn. obtd. as above is given a sufficient electrical conductivity with a small amt. of the filler compounded without detriment to the physical properties inherent in the resin. |
