PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of printing quality by automatically detecting the life span of an ink ribbon by a method in which the accumulated amount of application of an ink ribbon is compared with a preset amount of application, and when the preset amount is reached, a warning is sent out to the outside. CONSTITUTION:The running of an ink ribbon 1 is regarded as the rotation number of a ribbon roller 4 and its accumulated rotation number is counted by a rotation number integrating counter 5. When the count value coincides with a rotation number corresponding to the ending of the life span, set in a memory 6, a warning is sent out by an outside alarm output circuit 7. Though the life span of the ink ribbon is regarded as the rotation number of the ink roller 4 in this case, the number of times of printing operation may be actually counted. |
