PURPOSE:To transfer the information at a high speed and with high efficency, by enabling 1 or >=2 slave calculators to give an access directly to a main storage device of a master calculator storing the information necessary for processing or to an external storage device. CONSTITUTION:A master CPU1 functioning as a master calculator provides a line printer 7, an operation terminal 8 and a magnetic disk 9 at its periphery. At the same time, a main storage device 5 and a direct memory access (DMA) controller 11 are added. A slave CPU2 containing a storage device 6 is connected to the CPU1 via a DMA bus. The device 5 stores the informatin necessary for processing of the CPU2. The CPU1 transmits a DMA request signal to the controller 11, and the controller 11 delivers a holding command to the CPU1. The CPU1 itself is aparently separated from a bus. Then the controller 11 transmits only the information necesary for the CPU2 from the storage device 5. This ensures the transfer of information at a high speed and with high efficiency. |
