PURPOSE:To efficiently remove impurities, by adding an organic dispersant to the aqueous suspension of a mixture such as impurities formed by washing gas obtd. by the gasification of a raw hydrocarbon mateial with water to disperse suspended particles, and treating said suspension with a high-gradient magnetic separator. CONSTITUTION:An organic dispersant is added to an aqueous suspension of a mixture comprising impurities such as unreacted carbonaceous particles and metallic oxides formed by washing gas obtd. by the gasification of a raw hydrocarbon material with water, and the particles of the mixture are dispersed. Thereafter, the suspension is treated with a high-gradient magnetic separator to separate the impurities. Said raw hydrocarbon material may be petroleum distillate residue, crude oil, etc., and said organic dispersant may be tannic acid or its salt, lignin sulfonic acid or its salt, etc. In case of separating the impurities from the aqueous suspension with the high-gradient magnetic separator, the concentration of solid matter in the mixture is 0.5-10wt%. |
