PURPOSE:To provide a cooler which relieves the stress to be generated in a steel plate during cooling cnsiderably, by forming the ejection ports for cooling gas formed in plenum chambers into increasingly larger diameters toward the transfer direction of an object to be heated. CONSTITUTION:Ejection ports 3 which eject cooling gas such as air are formed so as to have increasingly larger diameters toward the transfer direction of an object to be heated such as a metallic strip 1 or the like under continuous transfer in plenum chambers 2 which face both top and bottom surfaces of the object 1 to be heated. Otherwise, many ejection ports 3 are formed in the same diameter and the intervals thereof are made gradually denser toward the transfer direction of the object 1. The coefft. of heat transmission is made smaller on the inlet side of the cooling zone and the internal stress to be generated in the initial period of cooling is made low. The coefft. of heat transmission is set gradually larger according to the transfer of the object 1, whereby the max. internal stress to be generated in the object 1 is suppressed considerably low while the object passes through the cooling zone over the entire length thereof. Creases, distortion, etc. are reduced, and the quality of the product is stabilized. |
