PURPOSE:To prevent a rear-end collision with a preceding car at its sudden deceleration, by providing a circuit detecting the distance between two cars going in the same direction and a circuit releasing the constant speed running operation when the distance is a prescribed value or below, in the device running a car in a constant speed for a reference speed. CONSTITUTION:When a distance with the preceding car is sufficient, since a discrimination circuit 70 gives no output, a normally closed relay 80 is turned on. Since the device is in the constant speed running, then brake, clutch, and OFF switches 32-34 are all turned on. If the preceding car 60 decelerates suddenly, the distance with the car detected at a circuit 50 detecting the distance between cars going in the same direction is shorter than a suitable value and the relay 80 is turned off, then a control circuit 20 releases the constant speed running for applying engine brake, allowing to prevent the rear-end collision. |
