Pane assembly, comprising at least two glass panes or panes of another transparent or translucent water- and airtight material, which are spaced apart in a first direction, and sealing elements disposed between the glass panes near their edges and joined thereto so as to tightly seal a cavity therebetween. The sealing elements comprise a sealing tape which extends in the first direction from the one glass pane to the other glass pane and as a whole has a compliant, vibration-damping and thermally insulating composition and comprises a closed, hollow, resilient tube of, for example, PVC and also a strip-shaped closure element of compliant (flexible) material, for example butyl rubber.
