PURPOSE:To improve the quality of marking irrespectively of the shape and size of the work, by controlling the switching and lateral deflection of a laser beam as well as the vertical and lateral movements of a table and the turning of the work. CONSTITUTION:A controller 7 moves a table 6 vertically to control the focus of a laser beam in accordance with information. The controller controls the opening or closing of a shutter 2 and the deflection of deflection mirrors 31, 32 according to the characters to be marked so as to mark desired characters. The controller 7 calculates the number of the characters to be marked on a flat plate from the size of the characters, and moves the table in a lateral direction when the prescribed number of characters are marked. The signals delivered from the controller 7 to the shutter 2, the mirrors 31, 32, the turning means and the table 6 and the feedback signals from the respective parts are compared, whereby the operations in the respective parts are checked simply and easily. |
