PURPOSE:To prevent the variation in transmission characteristics owing to side pressure and to reduce the diameter of a titled unit by containing optical fiber cores in the internal square cavity of a round external shape so as to be immobile in the transverse direction but to be movable slightly in the loading direction. CONSTITUTION:A taped optical fiber core unit 5 is made into the construction wherein plural sheets of taped optical fiber cores 1 are stacked and stored in a unit sheath 6. The cross sectional shape of the sheath 6 is circular in outside diameter and the internal hole 7 is so shaped as to make the cores 1 virtually immobile in the transverse direction of the tape but movable slightly in roughly the parallel state in the lamination direction of the tapes. Therefore, when the cores are subjected to the bending within the plane perpendicular to the tape planes in an easily bendable direction, the cores 1 are not deviated in the transverse direction of the tape; therefore, all the tape planes are kept free from nonuniform side pressure and the variation in the transmission characteristics of the strands owing to a difference in the side pressure is prevented. |
