PURPOSE:To decrease notches generated on a profile of characters and lines or the like of a reproduced picture, by correcting only a specific white picture element existing in a notch generation possible region into a black picture element. CONSTITUTION:An analog picture signal inputted to an input terminal 1 is binary- coded with the 1st threshold value and the 2nd threshold value nearer to the white level than the 1st threshold value at binary-coding circuits 2 and 3 respectively. An output of the circuit 2 is given to a delay circuit 4, from which a noted picture element signal Be and the 1st preceding picture signals Bb, Ba before the noted picture element as to the main and sub-scanning directions are given to a main scanning direction notch correcting section 8 and a subscanning direction notch correcting section 9. On the other hand, an output of the circuit 3 is given to a notch generation possible region detecting circuit 6 and a main/sub scanning direction separating circuit 7 via a delay circuit 5, and notch generation possible region signals Bh, Bv are given to the correcting sections 8, 9 from the circuit 7. When the noted picture element is a white picture element appearing next to a black picture element, the correcting sections 8, 9 correct it into a black picture element. Then, these picture elements are synthesized 16 with the signal Be. |
