PURPOSE:To prevent premature ignition and improve operability by shifting a side electrode of a distributor to a position delayed from the normal time, at the troubled time or starting time of failure of a crank shaft angle sensor of the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:At the troubled time or starting time of failure of a crank angle sensor of the internal combustion engine, an electromagnetic valve 30 is switched to the suction negative pressure side by a CPU1 to bring the interior of a negative pressure actuator 25 to be negative in pressure, and pulls a diaphragm 26 in the direction of arrow against a force exerted by a spring 28. The electromagnetic valve 30 rotates a disc 24 from the normal driving position shown in the drawing to the clockwise direction, and moves the side electrodes 23A-23F in the direction of a delay angle, and delays distribution of high voltage to a plug (not shown). By this procedure, the ignition timing when the crank angle sensor is in failure and the ignition is carried out by a pulse signal of a predetermined period of an oscillator (not shown), is kept excellently to prevent knocking and there will be no possibility of causing damages in the device even driving the device for a long period of time. |
