<p>A cutting mechanism for a sheet of fabric being discharged from a drying ironing drum comprises a swinging guide-slot formed by two parallel plates attached by their upper ends to an oscillating mechanism which imparts to the plates a slow, pendulum motion of adjustable angular magnitude. Beneath the guide-slot is a receptacle with adjustable, inclined edges which assists the formation of a series of regular folds at the end of each traverse of the guide. At the bottom end of the slot is a detector blade which switches the traverse motor on an off in the presence or absence, respectively, of a sheet in the slot. This reduces the amount of supervision required to run the machine, making it almost fully-automatic in operation.</p> |
