The electrically powered unit provides a rotating surface which carries an abrasive or polishing material, and is held against the finger nails to provide the required shape and finish. The unit is fitted into a moulded enclosure with a detachable cap to permit insertion of the battery which powers the electric motor mounted under the end of the enclosure opposite the cap. The shaft of the motor prejects through a hole in the end of the enclosure, and has a disc fixed to it. A push button switch is fitted on one side of the enclosure to control operation of the motor.
