An improved arrangement is concerned for retaining a pin (47) in a housing (45). The pin (47) is coupled to a link-like movable part (41, fig. 4), either directly or with a bushing (67, fig. 6) interposed between the part (41, fig. 4) and the pin (47). A retainer (69), preferably of cruciform-shape, is attached to one end of the pin (47) and has a plurality of radially-extending retaining arms (71). A plurality of arc-shaped abutment members (79) are provided, each of which extends between and is in torque-absorbing contact with a pair of arms (71). The pin (47), a wearing component, is intended for eventual replacement when sufficiently worn. The pin (47) is prevented from rotating with respect to the housing (45) which is a non-wearing part expensive to replace or repair. A method is disclosed for assembling the housing (45) and a pin (47) so that there is substantially zero clearance between each abutment member (79) and a retainer arm (71). <IMAGE> |
