PURPOSE:To enhance adhesion performance between a semi-metallic friction material layer and an inner layer of organic friction material by making the latter of needle-shaped, inorganic heat resistant fibers solely or mixed. CONSTITUTION:In a friction material in double construction consisting of an outer semi-metallic friction material layer and an inner organic friction material layer, needle-shaped inorganic heat resistant fibers are used for reinforcement to the organic friction material layer as substitute for part or the whole of flexible fiber such as asbestos fiber As inorganic heat resistant fiber is used such needle-shaped fiber as glass fiber, silica fiber, rock wool, ceramic fiber and steel fiber either solely or in combination of two types thereof. |
