An identification device of the type which includes a surface (10) on which identification indicia can be positioned. The surface (10) is provided with at least one indicia area (14) defined by walls (17). A marking medium can be applied within the indicia area (14) to form a recognisable identification indicia character whereby the character is located below a plane defined by the upper peripheral edges of the walls (17). In a particular form of the invention the indicia area (14) is divided into a plurality of indicia areas (11a, 11b) and the marking medium can be applied to selected ones of the indicia areas (11a, 11b) to thereby form the recognisable identification indicia. |
