Phenethylamines of the general formula <IMAGE> in which R1 denotes optionally substituted phenyl, C6H5-CH=CH or a heterocyclic radical, R2, R3, R4 and R5, which can be identical or different, denote hydrogen or methyl, R6 and R7, which can be identical or different, denote alkyl, where R7 can be hydrogen if R6 is a branched alkyl, and R6 and R7 with the nitrogen atom can furthermore form a heterocyclic radical, and R8, R9, R10 and R11, which can be identical or different, denote hydrogen or a substituent such as halogen or alkoxy, can be employed as medicaments having action on the central nervous system, in particular having antidepressive, anxiolytic and analgesic actions.
