<p>For the automatic manufacture of strings of sausages in a stuffing machine, lengths of a flexible pipe (18) forming the envelope of the sausages are drawn from a supply roller (34) next to the stuffing machine (10), those lengths being axially clamped and severed from each other. Each length is then used simultaneously with the expulsion of cooked sausage-meat from the stuffing machine, and is stuffed with portions of cooked sausage meat by a pipe (16)6 having a fractionated flow, and is then severed and closed. According to the invention, each length of clamped flexible pipe drawn from the supply roll (34) and the length of the flexible pipe drawn continuously are measured and compared, the stuffing, severing and closing are interrupted as a function of such comparison. Thereby, it is possible to process during a longer time the clamped flexible pipe lengths, in a completely automatic mode without human intervention.</p> |
