The present invention relates to novel dicyanohydrine(thiono)(dithio)phosphates/phosphonates of the formula I <IMAGE> in which X represents oxygen or sulphur, R represents an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy, alkylthio, arylthio, aralkylthio, alkylamino (mono- and dialkylamino), arylamino or aralkylamino, and R<1> and R<2> are identical or different and each represents hydrogen or optionally substituted radicals from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkyl, aralkenyl and aryl or an optionally substituted heterocyclic radical, which can be used as synergists in pesticides, and which additionally comprise substances which are effective against arthropods, preferably against insects and arachnids, in particular against insects.
