A device for optimising the energy budget of aircraft operating systems, such as control or positioning surfaces, is proposed. Using the invention, it is intended to be possible to store and recover energy on variable motor/generators (1, 2) for operation of the surfaces, both in the case of conventional hydraulic systems as well as in the case of fully-electrical aircraft. To this end, a drive system consisting of two variable motor/generators (1, 2) is used, in which both motor/generators (1, 2) are connected to one another such that corresponding operation as a motor or generator is possible, and regulation (5) with whose aid the variable motor/generators (1, 2) can be regulated such that the output power corresponds to that required. The one motor/generator (1) is used for operating the system in the normal case, while the other motor/generator (2) is connected to the energy store (3). <IMAGE>
