<p>A septic tower having at least one vessel, on the top side of which a gas outlet is mounted to discharge the resulting sewage gas, contains a sludge circulation device which passes the sludge from an outlet in the lower region of the vessel to an inlet in the upper region of the vessel but below the normally assumed surface of the sludge. In addition, means are provided for feeding the fresh sludge and for discharging the waste sludge, and also a heater for warming the sludge, which heater can be at least partly operated with sewage gas. The at least one vessel is composed of an upright cylinder having a vertically running longitudinal axis, the side wall of which is composed of a material having good thermal conductivity, the heating device being provided outside the cylinder wall. The heater contains a low pressure gas burner which can be supplied with the sewage gas collecting above in the septic tower without intermediate connection of a pressure accumulator.</p> |
