An indicator for malfunction of the lamps on a bicycle uses optical or acoustic means, with a variable intensity of indication (light or sound). The system can also be applied to tricycles, motorcycles and other light vehicles. The electrical wiring can be rigidly attached to the bicycle frame, or inside the tubing. The indicator is simply a LED mounted on the headlamp casing, which shows green if the rear lamp is working normally. It is electrically in series with the rear lamp. The circuit is suitable for dynamo power or rectified power from an alternator. Instead of a single LED, several can be used of different colours or size to indicate other conditions, like lamp active but low power output. ADVANTAGE Increased safety for cyclists at night.
