The invention refers to a method and an apparatus for the production of hollow and/or pressed glass. The object of the invention is to propose a method and an apparatus by means of which the cooling of the glass can be carried out without temperature inhomogeneities. In accordance with the method of the invention, the molten glass is conducted from the glass furnace into a stirrer unit and led further into the glass feeder. The glass in this glass feeder is heated homogeneously by the passage of current. Furthermore, by means of purely thermal convection flow along the limiting walls, the desired removal of heat is imposed upon the glass. The corresponding apparatus is such that a glass feeder is provided between the stirrer unit and the glass outlet, the height of the glass feeder and thus the height of the column of glass being greater than its width.
