A device for adjusting a seat backrest relative to a seat cushion is described, in which device two adjusting mechanisms are provided on opposite sides of a seat and are connected to each other via a rotating bar so that they can be actuated at the same time. This rotating bar connects the two adjusting mechanisms to each other with a phase difference over a given angle of rotation so that the doubling of the rotational play of the two adjusting mechanisms can be reduced and the rotational play of the seat backrest can be kept to a minimum.
