A rapid pressure increase in the encapsulation (1) (as a consequence of the heat of an arc) leads to a high sudden pressure difference in the cylinder spaces (32, 33) because the compensating opening (340) passes less gas per unit time than the throughpassage (31). This leads to the piston (34) moving in opposition to the spring (35), as a result of which the microswitch (36) is operated. When the temperature changes slowly, the pressure rise is also so slow that no piston movement is produced because the compensating opening (340) then provides the possibility for adequate pressure compensation between cylinder spaces (32, 33). <IMAGE>
