Crash helmet, especially for motorcyclists

A crash helmet having a pivotable visor which selectively covers or opens a field-of-vision opening in the helmet shell is provided with an inflatable sealing hose (1) along the edge of the field-of-vision opening. The inflatable sealing hose is inflated via orifices (5) provided on the helmet shell (2) at a certain minimum speed of the motorcycle in order to seal a gap (4) between the closed visor (3) and the helmet shell (2). On the other hand, if the motorcycle is stopped the sealing hose which is then no longer inflated contracts to such an extent that the gap (4) is released, so that a sufficient quantity of air from the surrounding atmosphere can flow past the inner face of the visor (3) in order to prevent the inner surface of the visor from misting. <IMAGE>
