A shackle comprises a bracket-shaped shackle body (1) and a bolt (7) having a bolt head (H) and a shank which is provided with a thread. In order to close the shackle body (1), the bolt is pushed through a first hole at the one end of the shackle body and is screwed into a second hole at the other end of the shackle body, which is provided with a thread. A number of depressions (5a to 5d) are constructed in the end surface (S) surrounding the first hole, to which depressions tongues (6a to 6d) inside the hole are connected, which tongues project in the direction of the hole centre. The depressions (5a to 5d) are constructed such that sections (k) of the bolt head (H) which project beyond the bolt shank can be inserted into the depressions. <IMAGE>
