A device for measuring the contractility of sphincter muscles in the interior of the body and on orifices of the bodies of living beings has a probe (1) which can be inserted in the body or the body orifice up to the point of measurement. This probe has a tubular inner body (4) one end of which can be connected with an air source (13) and a pressure gauge (12) via a connecting line (10). A hose (8) which surrounds the inner body (4) at least over some of its length and is made of a thin, elastically stretchable material delimits a hollow space closed toward the outside and having a changeable volume which is connected via at least one opening (6) in the inner body (4) to the interior thereof. <IMAGE>
