The invention relates to a drying apparatus for material in web form, especially a web of paper. The drying apparatus extends transversely across the paper web and has as its main component a support member reaching over the width of the web and rotatably mounted in two brackets, one on each side. With this support member is freely mounted a holder for heating or drying modules, so that these can be pivoted towards the moving web of material from a position remote from it. The elongate support member is a hollow body which acts as a cable channel for the supply cables leading to the individual dryer modules. The individual heating modules are arranged such that the cooling air first enters an air chamber like an air tank within the apparatus, in which the air pressure is evened out, in order to cool the quartz lamps which act as heating devices in the modules. |
