MANUFACTURE OF AUXILIARY COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF ENGINE

PURPOSE:To prevent cracks from being produced at a corner section formed with a flange of a metallic ring by treating the corner section by annealing in advance and shrinking the metallic ring on ceramic members. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary combustion chamber constituting body 1 is made by shrinking an approximately cylindrical metallic ring 5 on the periphery of ceramic members 3 and 4 divided into an upper and lower parts to form an auxiliary combustion chamber 2. A corner section 5b formed with a flange 5a of a metallic ring 5 is treated by annealing in advance. The metallic ring 5 is then shrinked on the periphery of the ceramic members 3 and 4. Thus cracks are prevented from being produced in the corner section 5b and reliability of an auxiliary combustion chamber of an engine can be enhanced.
