PURPOSE:To easily and speedily carry out engagement work of a flange part on one end of a pinion shaft, to easily form it by changing design of a mould and to secure uniform contact. CONSTITUTION:A play insertion part 30 of a smaller in size than an engagement groove part is formed on a head end portion on the side of a flange part of a spline tooth part 26 of a pinion shaft 4 on the driven side, and on a rear end portion of the spline tooth part 26, a press-fitting part 32 larger in size to press fit in the engagement groove part is formed. Additionally, the play insertion part 30 and the press-fitting part 32 are communicated through to each other by a tiered part 34. Furthermore, the play insertion part 30 and the press-fitting part 32 are communicated through to each other by a tapered part the size of which gradually increases.
