PURPOSE:To perform automatically a load controlling test of a test piece having a high spring constant automatically and smoothly without increasing the control accuracy of the testing machine by interposing an elastic body which deforms elastically to a load direction in a loading mechanism and applying the load upon the test piece with the elastic body. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a test piece are clamped by means of a pair of upper and lower chucking rods 2H, 2L, and an elastic body 7 such as a spring which deforms elastically to a load direction is provided between the rod 2H and a loading rod 3. When a cross head 6 is moved to apply the test load on the test piece 1 with the body 7, strain is generated in the piece 1 and the test load is detected with a load cell 4. The body 7 deforms according to the change in the test load in this stage and absorbs part of the extent of movement of the head 6; therefore, even if the test piece 1 is hard and has a high spring constant, the test load does not fluctuate largely. Therefore, the load is controlled and tested automatically and smoothly without increasing the control accuracy. |
