PURPOSE:To obtain a refractory material having increased durability by improving the corrosion resistance and spalling resistance and suitable for the lining of a blast furnace, self-smelting furnace, converter, holding furnace and container such as trough and pot for the refining of nonferrous metal excluding Al. CONSTITUTION:This refractory material has a composition composed of 3-20wt.% of ZrO2, 5-30wt.% of Cr2O3, <=5wt.% of SiO2 and the remaining part essentially consisting of Al2O3. Representative examples of the nonferrous metal excluding Al are copper, zinc and lead. The refractory material has high corrosion resistance and excellent spalling resistance and is usable at a part subjected to severe corroding action such as smelting vessel to which only magnesia- chromium refractory materials have been supposed to be usable. |
