PREPARATION OF SULFUR-CONTAINING L-AMINO ACID

PURPOSE:To prepare a sulfur-containing L-amino acid, especially L-cysteine and L-cystine, by the action of microorganisms using 2-aminothiazoline-4-carboxylic acid as the starting material. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain capable of converting 2-aminothiazoline-4- carboxylic acid to L-cysteine or L-cystine, e.g. Pseudomonas desmolytica AJ2368 (FERM-P No.2816) is cultured in a medium containing S-(beta-carboxy-beta-chloroethyl)isothiourea, and the resultant culture liquid, cultured microbial cell or treated cell is made to react with 2-aminothiazoline-4-carboxylic acid at 6-10pH and 15-60 deg.C.
