PURPOSE:To obtain a radiation position detector which has superior linearity and uniformity while improving the resolution, by using a channel plate image intensifier for a scintillation camera as a substitute for a secondary electron multiplier tube. CONSTITUTION:Radiation light of scintillation incident to a flat-plate scintillator 1 spreads in the scintillator 1 and an optical window 2 and enters a tapered optical fiber plate 3 having a square bottom surface, and it is guided to the channel plate image intensifier (MCPII)4 while the optical image is reduced in size. The reduced optical image is passed through the optical fiber plate 41 and converted into an electron image by a photoelectric surface 42. Each electron is multiplied by an MCP43 and acquired by a multiwire grid 44, whose output is supplied to an energy arithmetic circuit and a position calculating circuit. Multiwire grids 43 are arranged with high density to improve the resolution, obtaining the improved linearity and uniformity of a picture. |
