<p>A drivable roll, with controllable deflection or bow, more particularly for machines for the production and processing of paper or plastic in strip form has a cylindrical inner part (1) mounted stationarily upon supports (5) by means of trunnions (2), and a tubular outer part (3) mounted rotatably upon the inner part. Arranged upon the latter, along a generating line, are means for producing constraining forces acting radially between the inner and outer parts. Passing coaxially through one trunnion is a drive-shaft (6) mounted upon the trunnion and inner part, the drive-shaft being integral with a central gear (10) which, through an intermediate gear (11), drives an internally toothed ring (14) frictionally connected to the outer part (3) by clamping elements (15a,15b). The axis of rotation (Z) of the intermediate gear (11) is parallel with the drive-shaft (6), the teeth (11a) of the intermediate gear having crowned crests arching in the direction of its axis of rotation (Z), towards the end-faces. The structural cost of the drive is low, and high loadings can be withstood even with small-diameter trunnions Moreover when the outer part of the roll is deflected, this has no detrimental effect upon the drive.</p> |
