<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a halftone concentration with simple constitution, by finding the concentration of a picture element to be predicted from the concentration gradient between a gradient start point picture element gradient end point picture element on the basis of prediction start point picture element. CONSTITUTION:The figure shows the array of picture elements. An arrow mark 10 shows a main scanning direction, and an arrow mark 11 shows a subscanning direction. If a picture element 13 is a prediction picture element, picture elements 14-18 become reference picture elements. When predicting, the difference of the concentration between a gradient start point picture element 15 and gradient end point picture element 16 is set as a concentration gradient. The concentration of the prediction picture element 13 is found from the concentration of the prediction start point picture element 14 and the found concentration gradient. By performing the prediction in this way, only processing (n) bits is necessary, even if the concentration of each picture element is indicated by (n) bits. Therefore, it can be realized with a simple device.</p> |
