PURPOSE:To prevent sparking and scattering of arcs with welding, the generation of noise, etc. with an inexpensive and simple device by covering the spacing between the forward end of a wleding gun which performs stud welding and a base material with a hollow cylindrical wall and performing welding in a closed atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A heat resistant member 2 of a glass fiber material or the like is mounted on the inside circumferential surface of a hollow cylindrical body 1 consisting of an electrically insulating material such as, preferably a rigid plastic material or the like to constitute a device; further three guide leg parts 7 which determine the bottom end position of said device are mounted by means of screws 6 to the outside circumferential part in the lower part of the body 1. Such device is mounted by means of a fixing member 8 to a welding gun 9 mounted with a stud 10 to be welded. The forward end of said device is positioned roughly flush with the forward end of the stud 10 so that the welding of the stud 10 and a base material 11 is accomplished in the substantially closed atmosphere enclosed with the gun 9, the device 1, the material 1, etc. |
