PURPOSE:To recover the potential heat of a strip effectively, by passing a hot rolled strip through plural cooling chambers in sequence, and leading a coolant which has cooled the strip in a cooling chamber placed nearer to the outlet side, to an adjacent cooling chamber placed nearer to the inlet side and finally to the foremost cooling chamber to cool a strip, and then leading the coolant to a heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:A hot rolled strip is passed through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cooling chambers 20A, 20B and 20C in sequence and is cooled by a coolant, e.g. water supplied from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd headers 21A, 21B and 21C equipped with spray nozzles respectively. In this case, water which has cooled the strip 11 in the 3rd cooling chamber 20C, is pressurized by a pump 23C after passing through a sub-tank 22C and is led to the cooling header 21B to cool the succeeding part of the strip 11. The water, after said cooling, is utilized in the 1st cooling chamber 20A in the same manner, and is sent to a heat exchanger 24 through a sub- tank 22A to recover its heat. The water, from which heat has been recovered, is used again at the 3rd cooling chamber 20C. |
