The metal container(1) for gas, used in an oleo-pneumatic shock absorber or a gas spring, comprises a sheared portion(2a) in a part of its wall, and a projecting portion(3) formed adjacent to the sheared portion and outwardly projecting from the wall of the container. The projecting portion has a fractured side surface(3c). The dimension of the projecting portion, in the direction transverse to the side surface, increases in the direction outwards of the container. A gas-introducing passage extends along the sheared portion and the fractured side surface and extends through the wall of the container.
