PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure foul breath simply, inexpensively and rapidly, by a method wherein the presence or the absence of foul breach or the intensity thereof is converted to an electric output signal by using a gas detecting element to be displayed by a meter, a lamp, digital or sound. CONSTITUTION:A detecting element A adsorbing the gas in the oral cavity to be changed to the electric resistance value is set in a blow-in chamber 4 provided in a main body case 3 equipped with a blow-in port 1 and an emitting port 2. When a person having no foul breath in exhalation from the oral cavity exhales, the resistance value of the detecting element A is not changed and, therefore, detecting lamps 8-10 are not operated at all. When a person having foul breath in exhalation from the oral cavity exhales, the resistance value of the detecting element A is remarkably reduced and a current is flowed through a load circuit corresponding to the intensity of foul breath in exhalation from the oral cavity to operate and light the highly sensitive detecting lamp 8. When the foul breath in exhalation from the oral cavity is further intensified, the detecting lamp 9 having intermediate sensitivity is operated and lighted and, when intensity of foul breath is further increased, the detecting lamp 10 having usual sensitivity is operated and lighted to successively light three lamps corresponding to the intensity of foul breath in the oral cavity. |
